My initial idea for this category was that it would be the best individual beer, rather than the best brew pub. Several wrote in their favorite brews, but overwhelmingly people pointed to Tampa Bay Brewing Company as their favorite beer. While their brews aren’t bad, I’m hoping they get some more competition soon. Unless I’m missing something Tampa has a shortage of local craft brews. Next year I’ll make the distinction between best beer and best brew pub.
Runner-up – The runner-up for this category is an editorial decision rather than a reflection of the vote. Yuengling. It didn’t originate in Tampa, but the local brewery on 30th Ave. (which was once the Busch brewery) churns out an affordable, fresh, delicious brew.
