The Blogger’s Lament

Any regular reader of blogs is familiar with the following lament -
“Sorry I haven’t been posting. I’ve been really busy!”

And so is the case with this blog. I’m in the middle of a project that sucks up nearly every instant of my day, and will continue to do so until April 11. April 12 life [...]

Recommendations for Pepper and Egg Sandwich UPDATED

Jerry asks -

“I have a real hankerin’ for a “Chicago Style” pepper and egg (scrambled eggs with green peppers on Italian/French bread) sandwich. Of course, this would be accompanied by a splash of ketchup/hot sauce and a dollop of giardiniera. Any suggestions?”

I don’t have a clue. As eater BZ noted a few months [...]

Green Iguana Burger

Tampa I Am writes that the burger at Green Iguana “was cooked perfectly medium and about a 1/2 pound of juicy flavorful beef, topped with cooked onion, avacado, and Caribbean spices, on a very soft fresh baked bun, and came with very fresh and hot crinkle cut fries.”

Sounds good. I’m adding Green Iguana to my [...]

Acropolis Burger Review

Michael thinks I’ve gone about this burger comparison all wrong. My initial strategy was to compare the same burger at every establishment, just a regular burger, no cheese, cooked medium. Michael argued that I should try the signature burger at each establishment. Try the one they’re most proud of. Considering the difficulty of finding a [...]

Uncle Fat’s Pub Burger Review

I don’t have a picture of the burger I ate at Uncle Fat’s. I was sitting under a television set when I ate lunch, and the table of people staring at me (well, it looked like they were staring at me, though I suppose they were watching ESPN) made me self-conscious.

Uncle Fat’s serves a [...]

The Goody Goody Burger at Pine Grove Family Restaurant

The Goody Goody burger vanished from Tampa forever in November of 2005, or so everyone thought. In November of 2007 the Pine Grove Family Restaurant announced that they had purchased the recipe from the owner of the original Goody Goody Burger and would start selling the Tampa favorite immediately. Tampanians rejoiced.

The secret to the Goody [...]
