At seventeen minutes this is a longer than anything else that’s been posted on Music Monday, but let me recommend checking it out if you can find the time. This week is a short documentary about the band Tinariwen. The members of Tinariwen are Taureg, nomadic people that live in the Sahara desert. They formed in 1979 and started gaining international attention in 2000.

I believe this is an excerpt from a longer documentary called Teshumara, or The Guitars of the Revolution. It was produced to support their February 2007 release Aman Iman, which translates as “Water is Life.”
