The holiday is over and it’s back to the blogging grind. These breaks are never long enough, but I hope you found some time for rest and rejuvenation.
I’ve been almost completely off the computer and away from the Internet for two weeks. I had plans (BIG plans) to get some writing done for the blog over those two weeks, but not surprisingly those plans “gang aft agley.”
Ah well, it’s only a blog.
But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain;
The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!
In Robert Burns poem “To a Mouse, On Turning Her Up In Her Nest With The Plough” the mouse’s winter nest (her “best-laid scheme”) is turned up by a plow (gang aft agley=going oft astray, awry).
