Chuck Schumer clarifies -
“Section 1607(a) of the economic recovery legislation provides that the Governor of each state must certify a request for stimulus funds before any money can flow. No language in this provision, however, permits the governor to selectively adopt some components of the bill while rejecting others.”
So, either adhere to your “principles” and reject the stimulus funds, or stfu. (This goes for you too, Barbour, Palin, and Sanford.)
UPDATE:
Is Jindal afraid of Recovery.gov?
Did he tip his hand with his effort to keep the eyes of recovery.gov off the state employee unemployment insurance?
If I were the sort of person who was looking for corruption I might look into Jindal’s state unemployment insurance. I might also pay extra attention to Palin, Sanford, and the others who have balked at having a spotlight turned on their accounting practices.
