The American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009 is out of committee and will be debated on the House floor in June. In a recent press release Rep. Castor touts a measure she added to the bill.
“I successfully added a measure to the bill that is designed to expand the use of solar power in Florida and other states. The amendment, with Rep. Jay Inslee of Washington, clarifies that states are allowed to create incentives to promote renewable power, such as solar and wind energy.
“The city of Gainesville is the first city in the nation to adopt a feed in tariff for renewable energy sources. Gainesville will be a magnet for jobs in solar manufacturing. Other cities and states can be just as successful. We will expand the use of solar power, a great renewable resource, especially in the Sunshine State.”
Who knows, though, what it will look like after the legislative process. Republicans are almost certain to weaken many of the provisions.
