  • “we haven’t considered the safety aspects much yet…” It’s not a robot guide dog: it’s a handle-controlled walking machine that can almost handle urban environments. The vast majority of blind individuals I know do as well or better with a simple cane. Is it a technical achievement? Sure. Is it a robot guide dog? Not even remotely close.

  • It’s a Segway for blind people! It will revolutionize urban design for centuries to come!

    I wrote a brief intro about the ludicrous gadget optimism of this device, but decided to post the video without commentary. I was glad they were at least aware of the problems of what happens when the robot falls over, or of getting your fingers caught.
