A gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity; a break

That is to say, a hiatus.

Not sure what’s next for this blog. It may be that I’m simply going through a brief period of burn-out (which happens occasionally) or it may be that the time has come to close up shop. I’ll probably figure it out over the next couple of months. I’m in no hurry. I’ll just wait and see if the blogging inspiration returns.

In the meantime here’s Shel Silverstein singing a song he wrote and Johnny Cash made famous — “A Boy Named Sue.”

  • I didn’t realize Shel Silverstein wrote that song. I should have figured it wasn’t Cash: he had moments of weird, but not like that. Still, such a great thing that he sang it.

Though a lot of the local stuff is lost on us non-locals, I’ve been enjoying the blog; hope the hiatus is what you need, and we hear more from you.

  • I didn’t realize that it was a Silverstein song either until right before this post. It turns out Silverstein also wrote “The Unicorn” (which I know from the Irish Rovers), a childhood favorite.

Thanks for reading along. I suspect I’ll be back eventually. Right now I’m trying to wrap my head around a translation project I’m working on. The more I work on it, the larger the project becomes. Now, I’m thinking it will need to be annotated, which means I have some research to do.

Gone ? I never even realized he left. Who is this guy and why should we care if he is here, there, or anywhere?

    • “Gone ? I never even realized he left.” –This is one of my favorite half-dozen comments ever.

“Who is this guy and why should we care if he is here, there, or anywhere?” — By weird coincidence this is the phrase I’m putting on my tombstone.

Ok it is turning into a real break. I live 1140 miles away from Tampa and miss taking a stroll through re/creating.

I loved the evolutionary biology piece by Brian Switek. The photo of Jarry on what looks like a bike young people pedal on today in the trendier cities. The thing on some people actually having no compassion. Seriously not being able to comprehend the concept, on account of a genetic glitch, so scientists think. And like that.

I hope you are doing well and having fun.

  • Thanks, Clay. I think I’ll probably start back up again in late April or early May. Maybe a few posts in between.

In addition to a little bit of burnout I also started a full-time librarian job in the middle of December. It’s been an adjustment, but I think I’m starting to figure out how manage my free time.

Hope life is treating you well. Living in Florida is sometimes like living in paradise!
