The kamikaze is often served as a shot, and often made with lime juice, but this version is cocktail size and concocted with lemon juice as the IBA recommends. Of course the IBA recipe also calls for Cointreau, but I used De Kuyper.

1 oz. vodka
1 oz. triple sec
1 oz. lime/lemon juice

Shake with ice, pour into cocktail glass with ice and garnish with lime slice.

Now that I’ve made it, and am browsing the web to see what I can learn about the kamikaze drink, it seems like the only recipe that calls for lemon is the IBA version. Ah, well.

I also used Tito’s handmade vodka out of Texas. I don’t know much about vodka, but Tito’s seems tasty enough.

Here’s a 26-second video on how to make a kamikaze (not done by me, but found on YouTube).

Now that I’ve taken a few pictures of cocktails I realize I’ve got to get some backgrounds and better lighting for this stuff. I don’t think my crummy yellow wall is sufficient for a whole month of mixed drink images.

Wikipedia has this to say about the kamikaze -

“This is the drink of choice for pro wrestler Ric Flair as stated in his book To Be The Man…. One night he drank nearly 100 of them.”

100? Really?
