The slow food movement is about family farms and locally produced food, not, as many Tampa restaurants seem to think, taking 90 minutes to serve your meal. This weekend a slew of slow food aficionados will be gathering in San Francisco (presumably wearing locally grown, edible flowers in their hair).

“About 50,000 visitors are expected to converge on San Francisco for the festival this weekend to taste the wares of about 1,000 producers from around the country. They’ll head to Fort Mason for the Taste pavilions, collections of regional foods selected by experts. And they’ll buy sustainable food from the Market at Civic Center Plaza.”
