Michelle, you were (no foolin') runner-up.

I just count the votes, I don't make them. And I think I was pretty clear that I DO take bribes. If you didn't win, well... for a price I might be able to go back and do a re-count.

Cilantro was the runner-up.

As far as "beach bar" goes, I'm still working on defining the categories. I like your interpretation of "most like a beach bar because obviously there is no beach in Tampa."

People really get picky, don't they? After all the discussion of this being a list of places specific to Tampa, I took the beach bar to mean "beach bar"...as in, what place is most like a beach bar because obviously there is no beach in Tampa. There is a river, however, which is something not found in Pinellas. So, in the spirit of this question and with the idea of "beach bar" in mind, I voted for Rick's on the River. This place, while maybe not the greatest food in the world, certainly has that beach bar atmosphere.

One last thought: Clearly, anyone who voted for Anghiti for best Indian has not been to Cilantro in Temple Terrace. Please fellow Indian-food-eating readers, give Cilantro a try. You will see what you've been missing and definitely change your vote next time. (Cilantro is located on 56th St. next to the Olde World Cheese Shoppe in the former location of Don Jose Restaurant)

There were some really great suggestions I cut because they weren't in Tampa. But, there's no hard and fast rule. For example, I'd probably consider Temple Terrace as a part of Tampa, even though it isn't.

I also had to cut great places in Lutz, St. Pete, and Dunedin. (And it's possible in a list this large I inadvertently included something from outside the city.)

Maybe I need a new best restaurants just outside Tampa category.

I'm going to take uninformed umbrage at Cafe Hey getting Best Soup.

I dare any of you to try the She Crab Soup at Frenchy's on the Beach and not thoroughly enjoy it. Maybe it's the fact that it's in Clearwater, eh? Either way, go out and try the soup.
